I have not posted anything for a while although I have written lots of things; because I have been re-evaluating what I believe is effective communication and what I want to achieve with my writing. I have read a lot and looked at comments that people make to articles on the internet. There is a definite trend and it’s not a good trend. People in the USA are extremely entrenched in their positions and no amount of facts, information or reasoned argument can sway them. Many people don’t care if what they believe is wrong or even that they have no knowledge about subjects upon which they pontificate. I have no idea how to help people see anything that they don’t want to see. We are near a point where we may not recover and that scares me.
- People don’t believe in Climate Change because it snowed a lot on the East Coast.
- People think about deficit reduction without considering ending the many wars that we are engaged in, including the so called “War on Drugs”.
- People are okay with violations of the 4th Amendment when they take a flight, make a call, send an e-mail or use the internet.
- People say they want less government yet they constantly agitate for more government control over the lives of individuals so I conclude they only want freedom from government for business.
- Most people say they believe in punishing criminals but no bankers or corporate executives have been indicted, tried, or convicted for any of the crimes that they have and continue to commit, in fact, they receive multi-million dollar bonuses to reward their performance.
- The rich continue to receive large tax breaks while the rest of us enjoy the wedgie we got from pulling ourselves up by our boot straps otherwise known as Deficit Reduction.
- Many corporations pay no taxes and even receive refunds. These refunds come from the taxes you and I pay. How many of us did it take to pay for GE’s $3.2 billion tax benefit on $5.1 billion from its operations in the United States?
- Politicians are obsessed with abortion and eliminating access to contraception. The combination of these two things seems stupid on the surface but if you look a little deeper and add in chastity, the control and domination of women is fully underway. 351 anti-abortion bills have been proposed so far in 2011 in state and federal legislation.
- We demonize “illegal immigrants”. What happened to “"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" This is on the statue of liberty a gift to us from France in recognition of what we were.
- We hate Muslims. As with almost every other group of people there is nothing inherently wrong with a Muslim so why hate them? Did we just need a target to vent our anger after 9/11?
- We hate homosexuals.
- We love
tortureenhanced interrogation. We must love it because we are still doing it and have not prosecuted the architects of the American torture regime. - Government employees are now evil blood suckers because they are seen as the cause of the deficit not the billions that have been given to multi-million dollar bonus receiving corporate executives.
- Millions of people are unemployed with no hope of finding another job. Many companies will not even look at the resume from an unemployed person.
- Millions of people have been displaced and/or are homeless due to foreclosures; we wouldn’t want to create a “moral hazard” by helping them as we did by giving the financiers who caused the catastrophe.
- Millions of people are going without enough food to eat.
- Some people want to get rid of Social Security, Medicare, and home heating assistance for the Elderly, along with anything else that might help anyone. Where will you turn in YOUR time of need?
- “Are there no work houses for the poor?” say the Scrooges. No but we are reinstating debtors prisons, which is a nice bonus for the ever expanding private prisons industry AKA the new form of slavery . We now have a larger percentage of citizens in prison than any other nation in the world.
- We should get rid of the EPA, FDA and food safety regulations. Just trust the corporations to do the right thing. Remember Bhopal? 500 million eggs recalled, Exxon Valdez, lead poisoning in children’s toys, etc. There no safety belts in cars until government regulation required them, etc.
- The Deepwater Horizon oil drilling rig exploded in April 2010, killed 11 people, pumped thousands of barrels of oil in the Gulf of Mexico until 15 July 2010 and the top executives of the Transocean got a bonus for their exemplary safety record.
- There is an ongoing nuclear disaster in Japan that should have been a wake-up call for America since we have many plants with same design but it wasn’t. Our plants are allegedly safe, even the ones sitting on earthquake fault lines in California.
And it just goes on and on and on….
Are we so stupid? Why must we divide ourselves in to groups and work against our own interests? Our government is being used against us to create wealth for people who are already wealthy. So just for the record, that’s probably not you; no matter how much money you make or how much your house is worth you’re probably not rich. If you have to get up and work for a living and/or your primary source of income is a paycheck, you are not rich. People need to really grasp this concept. The working class is everyone who works for a living, not just some person who works at a factory or Wal-Mart. Even if you own a business, unless it is making $50 million a year, you are not rich. Many people are obsessed with limiting the freedom of others and spend all their time arguing about things like gay marriage, abortion, illegal immigrants, and mosques near “ground zero” or questioning the citizenship of the President. These are non-issues, they are distracters meant to keep us at each others’ throats and distracted from really important issues.
An average person in the United States does not have the same interests as the US government. Your strategic interests are food, clothing, shelter, your retirement, your health, your family. The interests of banks and corporations are not your interests, even if you work for them. None of them “need” to be saved; if the service they provide is valued then another business will pop up in their place to provide that service. If you buy into the nonsense that your interests are the same as the governments, banks, corporations, or political parties you are a fool. The Tea Party is a good example of these false beliefs and fools. They wanted to take back their country from a black man and give it back to their white overlords because that is more comfortable. We are all used to being oppressed the rich white people, so it just feels better to them. The Tea Party seems to have been partially successful but this will not solve anything. They are making it worse. I will not bore you with an accurate definition of Fascism because you will believe what you want; Google the word if you care. We are headed full speed to finalizing our status as a Fascist state.
As the invisible hand of the market pushes the wealth to ever higher spheres of a smaller portion of the population and pushes the rest of us to the ground and gives us an unrequested prostate exam, hand them the K-Y and take comfort in your beliefs. If you just let Corporations be free to make money, everything will be okay. Just close your eyes and pretend your back in the good old days of the 19th century. The time when men were self-made, children and women worked in sweatshops, brown people knew their place, old people died in the streets and only the rich had medical care. Maybe then, people will see what is really going on.

Or if you are tired of getting screwed, then stand up for yourself. I am calling for a 50 state "Chop from the Top"protest in every state capital on Sunday, 1 May 2011. Forget going to Washington D.C., just jump in your car or on a bus, train, or plane and go to your state capital. Our nation is for the people and by the people. Corporations are not people. If they do not see us, they will ignore us! No more tax breaks for the rich! No Austerity for the rest of us! WE NEED TO STAND TOGETHER AND FIGHT! The people united can never be defeated.
